Remember 18?
While sifting through old writings, I found the following. It was created right after high school ended. Sigh...looks like I was a lot more original back then.
I was six when I declared
To conquer all knowledge in this lair.
And all the while, scanning these books
Saw human possibilities in each look.
I became an engineer, an artist, a tennis playa
A little girl with many intellectual flavas.
I don’t like sodas, I’d rather take the tap,
Or throw my head back and freely laugh.
I sing in the shower, and on a strange day, might rap.
Just kidding – I’ve got no rhythm
Can’t freestyle when I think about existentialism.
Philosophy is right down my alley
But I like to do things, get my hands dirty,
Planting trees, making toys out of trash
Internal pleasure always beats the cash.
It's in the beat, the meaning of words
In Dickinson, Steinbeck, Virginia Woolf.
I wield the pen, I wield the shovel, I wield the spunk
Into the world and bring out da funk.
